Special Character Review

This is a positive summary of the work which we do on a daily basis to enhance the Catholic Character of Liston College.

I commented briefly before on the Special Character Review which was undertaken on behalf of Bishop Pat by the Diocesan Review Team in Term Two. The team was in the school for three days and had a good opportunity to see the Special Catholic Character in action on a daily basis at the College. The team visited classrooms, met with students, staff and parents as well as Board members and the Senior Leadership Team. It was certainly a thorough review with very affirming findings. They commented on the engagement of students in class as well as the brotherhood among the boys. One of the areas for development was in the communication of the R.E. Curriculum with parents. This is being addressed and I look forward to receiving your comments on our efforts to address this.

The concluding comments from the final report are as follows. “ ...the professionalism of the Staff, the committed leadership of the Principal and the DRS and their teams, and especially the individual knowledge of and care for each student all contribute to a school that lives up to its motto: In Christ We Live. The growing knowledge of and commitment to the Edmund Rice charism provides a lens through which the Catholicity of the school may continue to develop.” This is a positive summary of the work that we do on a daily basis to enhance the Catholic Character of Liston College.
