Psalm 16:8 I have set the LORD always before me. Because he is at my right hand, I will not be shaken.

Dear Parents / Caregivers

Parent Teacher Evenings:
Thank you to all the parents and caregivers who were able to meet the teachers to discuss the progress of your sons. Our system of on-line booking of appointment times has helped to make the evenings run more smoothly.  If you were unable to attend the interviews please make contact with the appropriate teachers either by phone or email. You can arrange to discuss the progress either in person or discus by phone.

School Ball:
The annual Liston-St Dominic’s combined School Ball was held in the first week of the term holidays at the Rendezvous Hotel. It was another well-organised event in the tradition of both schools and I thank Mr. Hardy for his organization. We make high demands of our students in terms of their behaviour at these events and it is pleasing that they always meet these standards. The positive feedback from the staff of the hotel on their experience of our students is evidence that our students represent the College with pride. Thank you for your role in setting this standard.

Student Survey:
If you have a son in Years 7 – 10 please encourage him to complete the survey I referred to in my newsletter which was distributed in the first week of the term break. A large number of students have already completed it. The student will have an email from me in his school account.  The results of the survey will help the staff to better meet the learning needs of the students.

Maori Language Week:
To help celebrate Maori Language Week we had a special assembly with a performance from the Kapa Haka group and a school-wide effort to incorporate some basic Te Reo into our language. This was also part of the plan to implement the principles of Ka Hikitia to help improve Maori achievement.

Extra Help for Learning:
Students in NCEA classes are offered opportunities after class to assist them to achieve success at this level. Many students are already taking advantage of this service from teachers. Please encourage your son to come along to these classes if he needs assistance.

God Bless you and your families.
