Mike Allsop - Bio

In 2007 Mike Allsop became one of a very small number of New Zealand climbers to have summited Mt Everest. In 2013, he became one of a handful of adventurers, including Sir Ranulph Fiennes, who have completed 7 marathons in 7 days on 7 continents, raising over $75,000 for NZ-based charity KidsCan.

Mike’s ascent of Everest and his run around the world are proof that an ordinary Kiwi can do extraordinary things. This is the message that Mike shares as a compelling motivational speaker. His mantra of ‘if you believe you can, you will’ is just as relevant to school-age adventurers as it is to office-bound executives and those already seasoned by their exploits and looking to push themselves still further.
He speaks from the heart when he tells his audiences about the power of goal setting. As a young boy from a single-parent home, Mike’s dream of becoming an Air New Zealand captain seemed impossible. But that didn’t stop him and he has achieved that goal. Then in his twenties, he set an even loftier goal of climbing the world’s highest mountain – which he subsequently conquered.
Hearing Mike recount his experiences will take you on a surprising journey of courage and companionship, life and death. More importantly, it will help you realise that there’s no point in wondering ‘what if?
